My Projects in College

By : Hanan alqahtani

I graduated from King Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and my major was Interior Design. It was interesting major. I learned a lot from it, and it is helping me in my daily life.
I studied five years in college. In first year, I learned a lot about the basic things in design, and how to use the pencil, ruler, and triangles. I learned also how to draw plans, but it was very hard. If there was an extra .01 in the walls, the doctor let me do it all again.  Also, I learned a lot about the colors harmony, but all of this thing was in the first semester. On the second semester, I started making projects, but it was by hand. It was designing a small house three rooms and two bathrooms, and it was my first project in college.
In the second year, I designed two projects. The first project was a small studio in New York, USA, and I made a model for it that cost me a lot about one thousand five hundred. The second project was a sea food restaurant, and that one was one of the best projects that I have made.
In the third year, I designed a boutique hotel in the same city that I live in, and a wedding accessories shop. They were very hard projects because in this year I was drawing and coloring all the details by hand.

In the fourth year, I started learning how to design with computer programs. At the beginning, it was very hard, but I learned quickly and it was easier than by hand because if I made a mistake, I only erase it not do it again. I designed a shopping mall, apartments, and a women's art club.
In the last year, I designed an expo in china. Finally, my graduate project was a mountain hotel, and it was in Abha.
I think that the college days were the best days in my life.
