He came Friday afternoon to LA. kareem and me went to the LA airport to take him. I had not seen him for about 6 month. When we took mazen from the airport, we went to Santa Monika. Haaaaaaaaaaaapy Eid

By Abdulkareem Alqahtani

Happy Eid,

Tuesday, you will hear all the Muslim students say to each other "Happy Eid" "Kol AAm wa antom bekher" and " Min Alayden". All of these words mean Happy holiday or it means "all the best wishes for all Muslims".
Eid Al-fetr comes after Ramadan (9th month of Muslim calendar and the Islamic holy month of fasting), after one month of fasting, Ramadan is the best month for Muslims. Why do Muslims fast during Ramadan? They fast to remember the poor people who don't have enough food to eat or to feed their children. When we feel the situation of poor people, we will do the best to help poor people.

After Ramadan month finishes, we start celebrating Eid for three days, and thanking ALLAH (The God) for the help and strength given to them throughout the previous month. Muslims celebrate by gathering with friends and family, preparing sweet delicacies, wearing new clothes, giving gifts to the women and the children.

Muslims begin Eid by performing Al-Eid pray at the mosque. Also give special charitable contributions, known as Zakat al-Fitr. Each Muslim family gives a determined amount as a donation to the poor people. This donation is of actual food -- rice, barley, dates, rice, etc. -- to ensure that the poor can have a holiday meal and participate in the celebration.. Common greeting during this holiday is the Arabic greeting "Eid Mubarak" (“Have a blessed Eid”).

After the Eid prayer, Muslims usually distribute to visit various family and friends, give gifts, and make phone calls to distant relatives to give well-wishes for the holiday. These activities continue for three days.

My Favorite City

By:Barakat Alkenani

Jeddah name the city . located on the Red Sea Coast in the West of Saudi Arabia. It has the second largest percentage of population in Saudi Arabia. "The urban population in Jeddah has grown rapidly from 1970 to 2002 to an estimated population of 2,560,000 at average annual growth rates of 12.43% in 1970 and 11.05% in 2000. Moreover, Jeddah plays the most significant role in Saudi Arabia's economy. It is also considered as the main gateway to the two holy mosques for Muslim people who are arriving to Jeddah airport or Jeddah seaport going to Makah and Al-Madina. Jeddah has been changed over the last fifty years. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast between Jeddah now and fifty years ago. The main three differences are: education, housing and men's clothing.

Firstly, the most notable difference between Jeddah now and fifty years ago is education. People in Jeddah have become more educated and that is a reflection of the government which has been improving the facilities and the system for its people. It has been building a number of schools, universities and professional learning centres and students are studying in modern classrooms with technological equipment. For example, with regard to electronic textbooks, Al- Shemary (2007) stated:
Electronic textbooks will enable Saudi students to have a digital version of the curriculum, something which they may access in computer laboratories on the school premises and in their homes. Students may read, browse, research, and copy and paste material into different applications.
While in the past there were not any kinds of teaching places, and people were taught in small groups with very basic equipment . Moreover, schools had just Saudi Arabian teachers fifty years ago. By contrast, the government has relied on international teachers to give Saudi teachers experience in teaching.

By comparing Jeddah now and fifty years ago, another difference can be noticed, which is housing. Nowadays, Jeddah is much more modern than in the past. It has got a lot of landmarks and many numbers of modern malls such as the Red Sea Mall Centre which is considered as the biggest mall centre in the middle east. The architecture has changed; most buildings have become multi-stories and they are mainly made of concrete and cement . Modern districts are being lived in by high class people, providing more facilities like car parking and big gardens in each villa and swimming pools as well. However, old people prefer living in historical and old districts or buildings which remind them about their childhood when houses were small and attached to each other. The houses were built in a simple shape and made of primitive materials such as wood and palm fronds.
Finally, clothing and fashion in Jeddah has varied and modified in the present age. Nowadays, Jeddah has two kinds of people: the first kind prefers wearing the traditional clothes which consist of 'thoop', 'ghutra' and 'taqia'. Sandeen (2010) stated that Saudi people typically like a cultural dress named a 'thoop' which covers the whole body and is a flowing robe-type garment normally white or light coloured in summer time and darker coloured in winter time. Most Saudi Arabian people put on a 'thoop' despite their profession or reputation. People feel comfortable when they are wearing these. However, the majority of people are more stylish and they are more interested in fashion than in other cities of Saudi Arabia. They love wearing jeans and T-shirts. Young people are competing with each other in the best style and by buying the newest brand clothes.

In conclusion, Jeddah has totally changed and improved since 1960 in different aspects. The education system has been changed by the government's role in improving the quality of teaching and increasing the number of schools. In addition, Jeddah is looking much more beautiful than fifty years ago with the biggest malls in the middle east whilst maintaining its historical areas. Moreover, some people in Jeddah keep wearing the traditional clothes which their fathers and grandfathers were wearing, but some people are more interested in fashion and high quality clothes.

sports celebrities

By Abdulkareem Alqahtani

As a result of the media attention, sports professionals in my Saudi Arabia have become stars an celebrities, and those at the top are paid huge salaries. just like movie stars, they live overstated lifestyles with huge houses and cars. For example, Yaser Alqahtani, he has a huge palace, more than 4 cars, and he gets $20,000,000 annual salary.

Many people find their salary is unfair, especially when comparing these sport stars with those of top engineers or research scientists, or even leading politicians who have the responsibility of governing the country. Any saudi engineer starts with $1600 as monthly salary while the player gets more than $5000 per month. However, sports salaries are not determined by considering the contribution to society a person makes, or the level of responsibility he or holds. Instead, they reflect the public popularity of sport in general and the level of public support that successful stars can generate. So the idea of 'fairness' is not the issue.

Those who feel that sports stars' salaries are justified might fight that the number of professionals with real talent is very few, and the money is appreciation of the skills and dedication a person needs to be successful. Competition is constant and a player is tested every time they perform in their relatively short career. The pressure from the media is strong and there is little privacy out of the spotlight. So all of these factors may justify the huge earnings. I think that the amount of money such sports stars make is more justified than the huge earnings of movie stars, but at the same time, it indicates that our society places more value on sport than on more essential professions and achievements

by: Angel

Hey~guys~I'm gonna share a secrect with you guys, promise me keep this secrect, don't tell anybody who are not our classmate.
I have been here since last year, last day! I met some friends, I feel so happy because it is my first time study abroad! One of them named Joyce, we are very closed, seems my best friend here. She is younger than me, so I never care some bad things about her cause I think she is still a kid. We always stay together, we went to Six Flag Miagic Montain and Disney Land with school trip. I really had a good time to be with Joyce. Time goes fast, a quater is gone, she told me she will o back to New York. I was so sad. Before she leaves, I cooked dinner for her, my other friends made a small party for her at my home. After she went to NY, I had spent a hard time to used the life without her. One day, she told me on Skype, she was gonna back to study, I was so happy, I told her to live with me, so when she back here, she moved out from homestay, came to live with me.

To be honest, I made a bad decision that let her to live with me cause our life style is totally different. She never did her homework after school, but I need a quiet surrounding to finished my homework. She was so noisey, sometimes I even cannot slept well. I got bad effects from her, my body cannot used that kind of life style, I felt tired and I got sick. This is not the worst! The worst is she always thought about parties, she couldn't stand life without fun, so she always asked me where to have fun. My party life became because of her. In fact, you may ake me why I still join their parties? Yes! It's my falut on this question. I can ignore them, I still can live in my own style, why I join them! The reason why I choose to join them is I didn't realize the importance of this question. I lost my mind little by little. I knew how to smok from them, I am good at drinking...... So what???Do I need to feel proud of these things? bull shit! Those things are never ever can be feel proud of them.

In this quater, I met some new friends from China. I realized myy problem little by little. I felt complexity, and autoponition. However, during these time, I have been thinking many problems. What is friendship?Who are true friends? Friend is not people who knoes your name can called friend, friend care your feeling, they will say faults whatever you are interested to hear or not cause they will do things are good to you. True friend never let you to drink, true friend never let you smoking, they care your health, care your body, anyway, they care everything about you, they don't want you get hurts from anything. I feel lucky can met those new friends, they help me to change back, I like this kind of feeling, you can feel happy everyday from your heart. Guys, think about your friends, do you have the same friends as mine? keep away from them friendly, this is the best choice!

going to LA by train myself

written by Min

Hello guys !!! How was your weekend? I want to tell you guys my weekend because I went to LA by train myself that was first time! Saturday I had an appointment with my Korean friend. She has lived in USA 3 years and she had lived in Seattle and moved to Pasadena 3 days ago, so she hasn’t known about LA. However, we wanted to meet in LA because if we didn’t hang out here, maybe we couldn’t have a chance to see together in here. Therefore, even though we didn’t know about LA, we decided to meet in LA. As you know, I don’t have a car and a friend who drop me off in LA in Saturday because some guy who has a car already went to LA in Friday for travel to LA with his friends. I had to use train to go to LA. I searched Metrolink and bus schedule. I was very nervous because I couldn’t agree the weekend Metrolink schedule. That was terrible. It had only two times in Saturday. One schedule is so early about 6AM, but Second thing starts at 1 PM and arrives at 4 PM in LA. I thought that was weird. Therefore, I had to take a train at 1:25 PM. However, I had a one problem how I can go to Riverside downtown Metrolink Station. Actually, We can go there by 1 bus in front of Extension center, but in weekend, we can’t go there by bus at 1 PM. It has a little schedule to go to station, so I had to go there by train and walk. I didn’t know the way to go station. I relied on google Map app. If I hadn’t gotten I phone, I couldn’t have gone to station easily. Finally, I found the station. I was really proud of me! After I bought one way ticket, I took a train. It was taken about 2 hours 30 minutes, but train didn’t work air conditioner well, so I felt crazy! In Saturday, It was over 40 degrees. I was headache and tired. I couldn’t stand anything, but I had to go there. After that, I arrived at LA union station. Many people advised me to care about strange and dangerous homeless people, so before I went there, I was so worried about that, but I thought some guys looked dangerous, but I wasn’t scary. Anyway, I met my friend in LA station. We had a great time talking about our daily life. If I can go LA, I hope to see her again before I go back to Korea.

I received a presidential scholarship

by Limar

In today's world, humanity pays great attention to education and how you're well trained and adapted to life depends on your fate, the fate of your children and loved ones, and thus the nation as a whole. I think that getting a good education and work for the benefit of their people - it is the duty of every citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
World technologies grow and change, and our country is no exception. Kazakhstan is actively developed, but further productive development requires well-trained technicians and new technologies. This helps the president and the program "Bolashak". I won a scholarship of the program and later want to be useful to my country.
Since childhood, I was drawn to the knowledge of anything new. My path to the knowledge of the world, I started at school number 75, when I was a student of middle school pays special attention to mathematics, physics and computer science. Advanced visited clubs with technical education in the Palace of Schoolchildren. Taught myself how to disassemble and repair a computers. In 2000 I was admitted to the National College of Art on the I-stage (later the Kazakh National Academy of Arts im.T.Zhurgeneva), but interest in new technologies has not disappeared.
After finishing the 9th grade II-entered the stage of the college. I was an excellent student in such subjects as mathematics, physics and computer science. Education in KazNAU opened the door for me into the world of art and science. During my studies, I participated in various contests and competitions. Actively participated in college life, take initiative in all activities. In 2005 I won the competition from the Academy on a trip to St. Petersburg to see the museums, sights. I love to draw - it brings me joy and satisfaction, but the purpose of my I believe it is IT-technology. I have a dream to become a leading expert in computer technology and first class domestic software developer. So I want to get a quality education abroad, particularly in the United States of America because this country is going along with the leading countries in the field of new technologies.
For this purpose, I successfully graduated from a six-month program for "System Administrator" in the training center "PC +" and decided to participate in the President's scholarship "Bolashak", because I think it's a way that could lead me to fulfill a cherished dream. Since studying abroad and reading of literature is compulsory foreign language proficiency, based on the knowledge acquired in school and college, I taught English courses in Business - School of the Kazakh-British Technical University levels «Intermediate High» and «Upper- Intermediate » and excellently passed it.
I believe that every successful person must have a purpose in life, and to achieve it we must exert all his abilities and conduct the daily work on yourself.
In a message to the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated that we will soon have to enter 50 most competitive countries in the world, and we - the younger generation, should do everything to achieve this goal. I - as a patriot of our country, as a promising young professionals would like to contribute to the development of Kazakhstan.

Shark Bites

I want to tell you about story happened to me before I come to USA. The story about shark bites first of all I am a person really like the sea and sometime my friends call me amphibious guy. In my family we all love sea I think it is in our genetic because all my uncles are diving and they all have license for diving. One of my uncles he is a fisherman, so I am really sure it is genetic.

At 3.00 PM I waked up, and I called my friends because our destination is far, and more we arrived early, it will batter for hunting. IN addition, the city we are going to is named Rabg. This city has beautiful beaches and a lot of people don't know about it. It takes from hometown to Rabg like 2 hour. So, my friend Mohammad came to home, and he has Toyota car Tacoma 1998, we put all the staff in the track and ties with the robe, but Gsan and Saud they follow us by their cars. Mohammad usually drives all the way. While he driving I turned the music on and we started chatting and makes jokes. The good thing we didn’t feel about the time it past so fast. After two hour of driving, we meet the guy who rent the boat. The rent was 1000 RS for one day with dollars almost like $250, and the boat was 2.5m its big boat, and with 200 horse power we can go to any way.
However, the weather was perfect, there are no waves, and the sky was so clear. Gsan turn on the engines, and the rest of us loaded the gears on boat. We started driving- with nice sea breeze and wonderful blue sea view I told myself "I am in haven"- to the location.
Finally, we reach the location we started making the breakfast. After the meal we pepper for hunting. I was the first one who jumped on the water. I was so exciting I think the reason, after long week of final exams I really need to change my mood. I started to swim around the boat; i got far like 6m. Then I found good fish I took a deep breath I got very close from the target then I take the shoot, but the air almost done, so I left the gun in the bottom of sea it was not so deep almost like 3m, so I went to the surface I took another breath I went down again once I grab the fish suddenly something caught my hand it was a shark I didn’t believe that. The shark tries to pull me inside the small hole. I started to straggle, I don’t have enough air and my hand stuck in shark mouth. Eventually, with my all strength I pulled my hand from the shark mouth. First time I thought it's just a scratch, but when I saw my thumb pounds another straggle started to reach the boat. The only thing was holding my thumb was the skin at the bottom of the finger.
At last I reach the boat when my friends saw the blood they all panic, and I felt I really want to sleep, but I told myself "I am blooding and I want to sleep". One of my friends tells me go to the head of the boat there is a lot of empty space. Once I wake to the head of the boat I felt down - I heard about people felting down I didn’t Imagine like that you cannot open your eyes – after a while I started open my eyes I felt someone slapping me took the first one, second, and at third one I stopped him. It was Mohammad he was almost crying. After that he seems looking for something. He thought I need sugar because I lose a lot of blood, so he found Masob is Arabic traditional food, Masob is very delicious, but never try it with chocolate. Mohammad mixed it with sugar the taste was bad.
However, we went very fast to the land. We took the car, and Mohammad drive very fast to the hospital. They took me to the ER the doctor said I need do the surgery. The next day I did it, and I stayed in hospital for one week.

What Will Happened If The Heat Is Increasing
Global Warming is an important ecological issue because it has many negative effects upon our environment. Global Warming, or what has been called the Greenhouse effect, is the process in which the Earth’s temperature starts increasing. It is caused by many things, and the causes are split up into two groups: man-made, or anthropogenic causes, and natural causes.
Natural causes of Global Warming are causes created by nature. First, among the most common and most significant contributors to global warming is deforestation caused by forest fires. Fires can be natural occurrences in many forests as it is nature's way to clear up old growth to encourage new ones. It also helps fertilize sprouting and existing trees and plants. However, while new trees take much time to grow large enough to absorb large quantities of carbon dioxide and produce sufficient oxygen, Global Warming is still in progress and increasing. Second natural causes of global warming by oceans. The ocean is also a significant contributor  to global warming as it naturally contains much polluting carbon due to the ecosystems they support because it has its trash like any other nature thing. Moreover ,studies have  shown that the top layers of oceans contain more pollution than the Earth's atmosphere and much of that pollution rises in the atmosphere. The third major  cause of global warming in nature is contributed by The North and South Poles. It is in those areas where permafrost which contains large amounts of carbon that have frozen over time. Disturbances to these areas cause the permafrost to melt and release the pollutants into the atmosphere. Keep in mind that the carbon held within these lands have been out of the carbon cycle for thousands of years ,so releasing them would cause an imbalance to natural processes. Gases, including carbon dioxide and methane, are suddenly released at volumes nature isn't prepared for.

Human causes of Global Warming probably do the most damage, and there are many human causes. First, power plants.  Power  plants are a key contributor to the effects of global warming. Power plants that gain their electricity through the burning of fossil fuel (such as coal plants) are especially to blame for this problem. This is largely because once the fossil fuel is burned to create energy, it releases carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is one of the leading factors in global warming because it increase it. Cars, along with other form of transportation that uses fuel to operate, are also human causes of global warming. Cars are fingered as a cause of global warming more than other forms of transportation because of their inefficiency compared to mass transit. As  fuel is burned in the engine, the bi-product is the same as in power plants: carbon dioxide.
Another major man-made cause of Global Warming is population. More people means more food, and more methods of transportation, right? That means more methane because there will be more burning of fossil fuels, and more agriculture. People always thinking that agriculture is going to be damaged by global warming ,but the truth agriculture will cause livestock and that will lead to manure which bring a lot of methane ending with co2 damages  . Another source of methane is manure. Because more food is needed we have to raise food. Animals like cows are a source of food which means more manure and methane.

in conclusion, global warming caused by two main causes which impact our environment and planet in bad way. These causes are natural causes and human causes . In my opinion , these are the most dangerous things that have a bad influence on our planet.

I'm missing my brother ...

Written by Yoshi

On Friday, I went to friend’s birthday party, and I met one American who is firefighter and remind me of my brother who also firefighter. He and I have never contacted after I came to the U.S. because he is busy I know that, so there are nothing way to contact and talk to him.

My brother is twenty-six years old, and he got married with a pretty wife who is a kindergarten teacher. They don’t have a baby. Probably, my brother wants a baby so much because he really likes children. When I was a child, he used to take care of me. I heard that for my mother and I saw a lot of picture in which I can see my brother is kissing my cheek.

First of all, I remember that he always studied hard to be a fireman, and he was mentally ill because of he was worried about the national civil servant test ; in addition to , he had bad eyes ,so he had t get an eye operation . I knew he went to the hospital so many times, but I believed that absolutely he can pass the test . He passed the test, and he is a good fireman still now.

Next, his appearance is so cool. He is one hundred-eighty centimeters, and face is small, and he has solid muscles, and he is gentle, smart ,a hard worker , likes children and so on. My brother is a perfect man for me. In the old days of Valentine on February 14, I was given many presents for my brother’s classmates.

Finally, he is a chief of the firehouse now. He is as wonderful as my mother. Both of them are my pride. I hope that I get married to a like my brother, and I become a mother like my mother in the future.

My wonderful trip in last quarter !!

Written by Yoshi

I would like to talk about my fast trip in the USA . I went to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon from May 28 to May 30 . May 30 was Monday , but I could go there because that day was Memorial Day , so classes were nothing ! I went there with 11 Japanese friends, and we made a reservation for one tour that we had to pay only, 100.00 dollar, and I thought that is very cheap , that’s why I decided to go there .

First of all, we rode a bus and arrived on a hotel where we stayed two nights , and it was very beautiful a high building ; moreover, the top of the hotel has an attraction that’s like a roller coaster , and I was so excited because that roller coaster is sometimes introduced in Japanese TV programs , Then we went out on the town in Las Vegas . I took a lot of pictures , saw a fountain show , bought a number of souvenirs , and I was impressed with the street scene of Las Vegas ! The next day ,we had to get up early in the morning because the tour bus had left the hotel at 6:00 am. We gathered at 5:50 am, and then we left there toward the Grand Canyon . That day was so cold, but the air conditioner in the bus was turned on , and I didn’t know why , so I asked a tour guide to turn it off, but he said ,”I can’t because if I turn off the air conditioner , the window is cloud with steam , that’s why.” I understand , and he gave me his jacket, so I could keep warm and sleep for about three hours into the bus. The Grand Canyon is very dynamic ,and I impressed to see that’s view.

In conclusion, I have a good time there. I want to go there one more if I have a time to go, and I want to stay a luxurious hotel if I can afford to spend money next time.

Galaxy S & I-phone

By : Eric

From now, I’d like to speak about smart phone, GALAXY S and I-phone. The objective of this is to give some information to someone who wants but GALAXY S or I-phone. I have divided into two parts. First, I will show you the general definition and the reason people use smart phone. Secondly, I will tell you compare & contrast between GALAXY S and I-phone.
First, I’d like to give you some basic information about smart phone. Smart Phone is a portable small computer. Smart phone has almost all characteristic of a computer. When you need some information, you can use searching information on internet and using application, so you can use your own style of function in smart phone. However, you can use just that integral function in cell phone. Otherwise, in the case of smart phone, you can install some application what you need. And also, you can increase phones function. Even you can use internet on your cell phone

. That is worse than smart phone. Applications are upgraded frequently in smart phone. That means you can use super strong function in your smart phone continuously. That’s all I wanted to say about the general definition and the reason we use smart phone.

Next, let’s now talk about compare and contrast between GALAXY S and I-phone’s spec & Design. First, the appearances are different. I-phone 4 appearance is look like square. And GALAXY S appearance is look like round. After, the thickness is different. GALAXY S is thinner than I-phone. In addition, size is different. GALAXY S is lighter than I phone. Next, I’d like to say differences about screen. GALAXY S use 4 inch super amolled(600 multiply 480,resolution). I phone use 3.5 inch HD LCD (960 multiply 640, resolution). Those are use full touch screen. However, in GALAXY S, there is a slot for extra memory. In I phone there is no slot for extra memory. The cameras are both good as digital camera.

Next, there is some extra information.

GALAXY S: multi touch, multi tasking, flash, basic widjet function, change the battery it means you can use two battery (originally in the phone’s set there are two battery), enough application, you can use android market, and t store.

I phone: six sensor, HD video filming, multi touch, you cannot change your battery it means you can just use inner battery. However, you can buy some of extra battery not inner battery. And the battery keeps a long time. You can use just apple store but there are more application than android market.

Lastly, assistant service is different. If your GALAXY S breaks down, you can fix that easily because it’s made in Korea. However, if you use I phone, you cannot fix that easily because I-phone made in USA. I phone’s A/S service is refund. Not fi

xing.

That’s all I want to talk.
In summary, first I told you about the general definition and the reason we use smart phone. Second, compare & contrast about between GALAXY S and I-phone. Next, compare & contrast about O.S between GALAXY S and I-phone.
In conclusion, the choice is up to you. Before buying, you have to consider all about those phones and then decide to buy. In my case, in Korea, GALAXY S is better than I-phone because GALAXY S made in Korea. Haha!

Are there any question?? If you have, ask me or search on the internet! It would be better!

little part of my family is here!

by: Basak

Today was very good day for me because my dad came here! We live with my mom and my cousin here. This afternoon, we went to airport to take them from there. My mother’s friend has also come with us. My dad, my cousin’s parents, my aunt, her husband and her children came here. Now we are 10 people! I’m very happy because I missed my dad so much, and seeing him made me happy. We rent a van so that we can fit into car. After taking them from the Los Angeles airport, we came back to Riverside. On our way back the traffic was terrible! It took more than 2 hours to arrive here, and they were very tired because the flight from Istanbul to LA takes almost 14 hours and before that, my dad and my aunt’s family took another plane to go to Istanbul. My 2 little cousins were very excited but the younger one slept during our way back to Riverside. Other one was like non-stop talking. Now I am very pleased that they are here, I haven’t seen them for 2 months. -I know probably most of you haven’t seen your parents more than 2 months, but I still missed them so much-

I was locked out!

by: Basak

I am staying in University Village Towers. Today when I came home, I couldn’t open the door with my key. I went to entrance and talked with someone. They did something and gave me back. I went back to our room and tried to enter again but I couldn’t open it again so I went to entrance again and they repeated the same thing and the key didn’t work again! I was very tired and the weather was very hot. I walked a long way to go to the entrance and back to my room 3 times. After 3rd time, a woman came with me and took another key -I think it opens all doors- and we came to our room. Unfortunately that key didn’t open the door too so the woman went and another guy came. He opened the door and said I think the problem is about your door. Then he started to repair it, but still my key wasn’t opening the door. The man continued to do something with door and finally he said I will take something then I will come back. Then he came back with a screw. After few minutes, finally I could open the door. I thanked the man and he went.  I wasn’t home but I guess my mother had the same problem too. I assume it is because they were thinking today is our last day, so they inactivate our keys. Anyway, I hope I can come into my home tomorrow!

go travel??

By. Yong

Hey, guys. How are you doing??? Do you have any plan for this vacation??

I wish that you have a great plan for your break time. There are many attractive spots to travel in the U.S. If you don’t go anywhere on this vacation, I am one hundred percent sure that you will feel regretful.

In last vacation, I went to New York City. You cannot guess how I felt in New York. It is totally different city. I was staying for a week, and I acted like a New York Citizen. Also, a week was not enough to enjoy New York, but I am really satisfied the trip in New York. I could go anywhere by metro, so I went many spots which I saw on the Internet, television, and movies. It was really great. I had never imagined that I was in New York and at the most famous places in the world: the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, the Time Square, the Chrysler Building, Wall Street, the Ground Zero, Harlem, Brooklyn Bridge, Dumbo, MOMA (Museum of Modern Art), Guggenheim Museum, Soho, and other famous place that I cannot remember any more. It was one of the most impressive experiences before my life. I took picture at these places, for I wanted to make a proof of visiting and to get my own picture of these special places. Of course, I was in some of these pictures because it can prove that I was really at there without any fakes. Then, today, when I go through these pictures, I can remember my feeling what I exactly felt at there. Anyway, traveling in the U.S. can give you great experience during and after you are in New York.
In next vacation, I do not have any plan. Of course, I eager to go some cities: Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Miami, and other famous cities. Do you want to know why I do not make plan? In New York, I was surprised that I spent much more money than I expected. After I came back to Riverside, I could not live like before my parents sent me money for next month because I did not have enough money. I hope that you will not do this stupid thing if you go travel. Before you decide to buy something, please think one more time.

Is it really worth to buy? Or Do you really need it?

I actually do not think like that when I buy something. You know, impulse buying is much stronger than reasoning thinking. Thus, I usually think that why I bought this. Oh, sorry. This is not a point of the writing. Sorry about that. I am sometimes on the wrong track when I keep talking for a long time. Oh, shoot, I did it again.

Anyway, I do not have any plan, but my parents said that if I want to go San Francisco, they can send me money. However, I cannot say yes to them because I know myself very well. Maybe, I will spend more money than I supposed to.

For you, it is better to go somewhere in the U.S.

Sorry about my writing. Even I cannot catch on what I really want to say to you.

The time of earth

Hi friends today I want to talk about the future of the earth. I know the subject look wearied, but really I didn’t find any subject to write about, so be paitent.

Have you ever lived in Earth People are contaminating the ground, and human are constituent of environment that why we should look after everyone damage the Earth. In this essay, I will declaim in details the three major causes of the degeneration of the Earth: nuclear reactors, oil factors, and human behavior.

First, nuclear reactors damage the Earth resources including nuclear reactors, Hiroshima, and an Ozone layer. The first cause is nuclear reactors which comes from using this factors. They cause malignant tumors deadly to humans. For example, bomb was detonated over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Another serious cause of nuclear reactors is explosions like Japanese after earthquake two months ago. For instance, what happened in Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, a uranium gun-type device code-named "Little". In addition, these bombing resulted in the deaths of approximately 200,000 Japanese people. The third major, dissolution of the ozone layer cause in contaminating the ground. For illnesses, the ozone hole is photo dissociation of man-made halocarbon refrigerants. Another cause, increased topospheric ozone is generally recognized to be a health risk, as ozone is toxic due to its strong oxidant properties. In short, energy has a very importance in new life, so the government and people had better to be in charge of save and keep it for next generation.

Second, oil factories help to damage the Earth sources including smog, global warming, and air pollution. First of all, the smog is dangerous than another smog because it is photochemical smog. For example, Saudi Arabia has a lot of oil factories, so it changed smelling the air. To illustrate, cause the disease to the children and a weak immune. The second cause of oil factories is global warming. In addition, it increased warming every year. Moreover, the global warming is melting snow at the poles. The third major is air pollution. In fact, the factories produce gas CO2. The factories help to respiratory diseases. For example, asthma is the most common. As of 2010, 300 million people were affected worldwide. To sum up, you should limit and control oil factories.

The last cause of the Earth's  degeneration is human behavior including soil pollution, no recycling, and driver a car. The first cause, people do soil pollution by use chemicals such as killed earthworms in farm. As an illustration, farmers industrial use of compost instead of natural. Moreover, throw waste in the forest. Secondly, a lot of people doesn't recycling, so that help to degeneracy the earth. In addition, if people doesn't recycling, they will accumulation of waste. For example, increasing urbanization every day. The last major, all people using a car a lot. Cars are the most transportation used in modern cities. Last researches says every ten adult people use eight cars in USA which means 80% of people have an own car. According to this research can we imagine how much carbon oxide exhausts in the environment every day? There is no a clear number but definitely it is a huge. However cars are so significant, we can control using it by several solutions. For example, using a public transportation which serves a group of people through car serves less than two people mostly. Another solution is encouraging people to use a multiplicity of individual transportations. For instance, my home stay father uses a bicycle every day to go to his job while his wife brings their child to school by walking. Those solutions do not mean give up using a car but it means using cars less as much as possible. To summarize, Those solutions do not mean give up using a cars and metal but it means using cars and metal less as much as possible.

As you can see, in our new life we have a multiplicity of factors cause damage to our Earth. The most oil factors which cause the degeneration of the Earth are nuclear reactors, oil factors, and human behavior. I think everyone damages multiply the Earth , so people cannot live.

The Movie

 by: Alaa Adnan Edris

Hi friends today I want to tell you about very stupid movie I had seen. The movie is French movie, and it was my first time I see French movie. Also, the bad thing I had to watch the movie with my friend because she chose it. Anyway the story began.

Sarah is a young lady dream to be musician and her play with guitar. She is only 24 years old. Her mother was ideal to her. She died in accident. Also, her mother very nice woman with a lot of hope inside her to raise a child that makes her proud. Sarah got some appearance form her mom. She has the same hair which is long and deep dark color, and brown big eye. Sarah has a job in publish magazine, and her best friend whose name is Ana. Sarah knows Ana since the high school. There are very close friend. Furthermore, Sarah has a boyfriend that name is John. This man was nice to her in the beginning after that he change to nightmare, and he start to yell and ignore her. In Sarah life this was the most herbal page for her life.

Ana has neighbor who lives in couple block from her home. Jack has simple life, he work as a writer authoring books like serial story. Jack in 28 years old he live in apartment. In the early morning he wake up at 6.00, and start jogging between parks and street and say hi to the people who just start to open stores. By the end of one hour he returns to his apartment and eat breakfast on the porch. After he done from the meal, he goes to the roof with big coup coffee and blue clear sky to try dream in imagination and put this ideas in paper.

Ana put plan to introduce jack to Sarah, but Sarah already know about it, and she decide to give this guy chance. Eventually, the meeting was in small Italian restaurant. Sarah was nerves with deep fear inside her, but jack was nice, and she feels safe with him. Both of them live happy together.

At the end I don’t know why I was watching this movie? The movie was very obviousزovie was very obvious ?.

TWO INTERESTING THINGS---Vincent

Last Saturday I and some of my friends came to the IKEA.By end of this mouth,we will move out of the IV.I just find some other place to live where is cheaper then the IV.So we went to buy some furnishings. This is an unforgettable day.The day we fore people ranted a car drive to the IKEA.we all felt nervous for driveing.Although there was a GPS,but we still couldn't stop thinking about.Someone toll us the traffic rules here is quite different form China. What's more the cars' speed here is faster and we all been afraid of that.Morning we weak up early and started our trip one of my friends was the driver and I were the leader I watched the GPS and leaded the way to my friend. Finally,we got there and found what furnishing we need.there is a little different form China and USA.When you get something at IKEA you must to find the things by your self,so we just walked around and moved the furnishings we need together. It casted we mostly time and moved thoes heavy things just made we tired. We drive back in a hurry but still late for the return car back time.So we must pay another day for the rant car.And there was another interesting thing. At Sunday evening I and my friend went out to get something to eat. After we finish the dinner we just walk back.Suddenly there were tow people stop us.And we found there a man and a woman as the man say the woman is his wife. And the man start talking we all feel unsure. But still listen so they two are christians they try to let me know something about the God and the sin thing. We listen careful and answer the questions. This last about an half hour and the man Daglas give each of us a book named .I have read a few paper of it and I though the christianity is very interesting. There is much different from China's religion. Thus,I will keep reading the book and now I'm really interesting in the christianity. And Mr.Daglas is a very kind person he told us if we want to go to the church just call him and he will come and drive me there. So I think the religion in USA is more like a religion.People spread the spirit for free and truly want to help people. The religion in China is much more like a business everything is contact with money. It just lose the origin of religion.

Kabsaa

By: Hanan Alqahtani

Today I will talk about Kabsa as a kind of favorite food in my country, Saudi Arabia, and other Arabic countries. Kabsa is a popular and traditional meal for a lot of Arabic societies. Moreover, it is considered a main dish on the lunch table almost every three day. Also, it is the main dish in parties and holidays. Every one likes it so much. On the other hand, it caught on in other foreign countries.

It has many healthy benefits. It is made of rice cooked with red or white meat, fish, or chicken in a pot. To prepare kabsa cut the onion and garlic than put it in the pot; stir it with a little vegetable oil until it begins to brown. Then, add the meat pieces or chicken pieces; fry it until it begins to brown, add tomato, majee, spices, salt, pepper, black lemon and water. Then, cover the pot, and cook it over medium heat about 45-60 minutes. You can add something else for tasting if you want like potatoes, carrots or green peppers. After that, remove the chicken or the meat from the pot and put it in a plate in the oven to make it brown and crispy from outside. Clean the rice than put it in the same pot that the meat cooked in, and add water and salt if you want and cover it for 10 to 15 minutes in law temperature. Then put it in one big dish with the chicken in the top to gather with your family around to share the meal. Serve it hot. I prefer kabsa with salad yogurt or vegetables, hot and spicy, and with a cold soda. Hummmmmmmmmm. I hope you all try it one day. You will not forget it. It is so so so delicious.

San Francisco

By Abdulkareem Alqahtani

Welcome back my friends, I hope this blog finds you fine and have full energy for the 7th week of summer 2011.

In this blog, I will continue writing about my fantastic trip to San Francisco last vacation. I have written about the first two days which were about the places I visited on The Pacific Ocean Road or California Highway 1. In this blog, I will write about our days in San Francisco city. At 6 o’clock evening we entered San Francisco, and we directly went the downtown where our hotel is. When I arrived the hotel, the receptionist welcomed us, and took us to our room. The problem of San Francisco is the car parking which is very expensive. The hotel asked me $33 per night for parking, but I looked for other parking, and I found public parking 3 miles away from our hotel. The public parking was $22 per night, I left my car there whole the time I stayed in SF because we did not need it. The good thing in SF downtown that you do not need for car because you can use public transportation likes train or cable car.

We stayed the first night at hotel because that day was tired day. The second day was rainy, so we decided to go San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). It has fabulous arts, and we had good time there. SFMOMA was the first museum on the West Coast devoted to modern and contemporary art. From the outset, the museum has championed the most innovative and challenging art of its time, and they continue to exhibit and collect work by both modern masters and younger, less-established artists. Then we went back to the market street where many of brands, fashion shops, and restaurant are. Then we had coffee near the Union Square which was awesome place. The third day, we visited the Fisherman's Wharf where we saw and enjoyed a lot of attractions there. The most attractions are: Pier 39, Pier 42, Wax museum, Forbes Island and restaurants and stands that serve fresh seafood, most notably Dungeness crab and clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl. Other attractions in Fisherman's Wharf area are the Hyde Street Pier which is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the USS Pampanito, a decommissioned World War II era submarine, and the Balclutha, a 19th century whaling ship. These attractions need more than five days to explore and see them. Afternoon, we took one hour tour by boat. It launched from Pier 41 passing National Liberty Ship Memorial (SS. Jeremiah O'Brien), then the tour passed under The Golden Gate Bridge, WaaaaaaW, unbelievable scenery, then we went back and passed around Alcatraz Island, then we went back to the Pier 41. We tried to visit Alcatraz Island, but unfortunately all the tickets of 2 weeks ahead sold out. Then we went back to our hotel to prepare for a concert which was a performance show, it was a fabulous experience and we will attend it once again. Last day, we woke up early, we had breakfast on StarBucks then we passed over the Golden Gate Bridge then Richmond San Rafael Bridge. Then inserted the coordination of our home in Riverside in the GPS to go back home. In going back, I drove on Highway 5 which was boring road. We spent more than 7 hours from SF to Riverside.

This is my trip to San Francisco, I hope you enjoyed reading and for further question about my trip, you can ask me any time …………. Thank you……

Smoking,, the slow killer (Stop Smoking)

Smoking,, the slow killer (Stop Smoking)

We all wonder of those people who refuse to live happy and healthy life, they choose to live miserable life intentionally! They want to commit slow suicide, you may ask your self whom are they, they are the smokers.

As we know that our age is full of experiments and discoveries, these experiments may become one day a bad or fatal habits that lead people to death. Smoking is considered one of those habits.
Unfortunately, that most smokers know that this unpleasant habit causes many diseases to them. Perhaps you would care to know that it has an adverse effect on lymph nodes, pituitary glands, nerves centers, heart, blood pressure and lungs, regardless of its fiscal

How to quit smoking?

These are practical steps, but we need deeds not words:
* Delay the usual time of smoking, e.g. if you are smoking every day at morning, try to delay it to the afternoon, then try again to delay it to the night. The desire of smoking will reduce gradually.
* Try to avoid the places or attitudes that remind you with smoking. Most likely, you will be longing for smoking but you have to hold your horses.
* learn new hobbies and sports to fill your time as a trial to distraction from smoking.
In fact, they are more and more ways to quit smoking, but we want to notice that you have to put in your consideration the appropriate time and place, not to mention the praying and ask Allah to help you. If you do it, you will be obedient to Allah and held in respect from all people.
Finally, we hope that all smokers quit smoking and choose to live the happy and healthy life both now and in the hereafter. May the grace and peace of Allah be with you.

Preparing vacation !

written by Min

I’m going to go to NY, Boston, San Francisco about 16 days. However, before I decided my trip, I had some indecisive things because my mother didn’t decide anything. For example, actually, she has been worried about going to US alone, so she couldn’t decide easily. I could understand her mind. She has never traveled to country without any helping. Therefore, she told me to go to US lately. I had to prepare everything without her airplane tickets to NY, Korea. I had to book my airplane tickets, our hotel, bus tickets. Moreover I should prepare our traveling plan. I wanted her to have a great time in US so I was considering everything. Actually, I wanted go to Niagara waterfalls in Toronto because I wanted to see Niagara sightseeing and my aunt’s family who have lived in Toronto. We had met in Seoul in 3 years ago. However, If we go to Toronto weekdays, my aunt can’t go somewhere with us because she has to care about her daughter in weekdays. However, we couldn’t make a plan to go to Toronto in weekend. Therefore, my mother and I decided to go to NY, Boston and San Francisco. Then we had already booked our airplane tickets so if we change our airplane’s schedule, we might pay required fee. My aunt wanted to see together and my mother and I also had same idea, but we couldn’t change our plan. Unfortunately, we had to skip Niagara sightseeing.

Honestly, I had never planned traveling myself, so I was worried about our trip. I have to satisfy to my mother’s trip. I didn’t want her to be disappointed at all. It was really complex thing to make a plan but I got a lot of information from my friends who traveled east side. I was really appreciated to them. Moreover, my friend helped me to book airplane, hotel and bus, so I could organized my traveling plan clearly. Now I am going to pay hotel fee. That is only one thing that I have to do.

I’m so excited and expecting our trip. I really hope to be great trip with my mother.

breathtaking place!

By: Basak

This week I want to talk about an amazing place called “Datça”. That’s a great place to have a vacation. If you think about coming Turkey for holiday I recommend you to go there. We go there almost every summer, except this summer because of my English education. My father really wants me to improve my English so much because he thinks it is very important. Actually I agree with him. I came here so we couldn’t go to Datça. I really miss there! It’s not just a place, it has a spirit! There are a lot of different places such as cafés, restaurants, jewelry shops, and also there are a lo of people who designs something and sell them. That things are amazing, they are really worth to see! First of all Datça’s sea is amazing! It’s pretty cold but it is a good thing especially when it is summer. It’s not wavy and it’s very nice. You can see the bottom of the sea because the water is so clean and clear -I know it sounds like cleaning product haha- and here is a picture of Datça’s sea!

Last year we went there with a big group. My mom, dad, my uncle and his wife, my aunt, my cousins. Also last summer my uncle and his family who are living in England, came to Turkey to visit us. They came to Datça too. Almost whole family was there! It was amazing and pretty funny! After waking up, we were swimming before the afternoon because when it is 12 p.m – 3 p.m it was very hot! If you swim at that time you will feel the sun like it is next to you and probably you will tan a lot. We were playing cards or different kind of games, eating something, walking around, we were having great time! Sometimes we were renting a big boat and going some coves or going deeper places and swimming there. Here is another photo of deeper sea!

Unfortunately, when I go back to Turkey I won’t have so much time just few days. After that I will start to school again! I don’t even want to think about it. I noticed that I miss Datça so much. I wanna go there and jump to sea! Especially when I think the weather but I can’t go there this year, I don’t have any time. I wish I had. Anyway,  this year I have been in U.S and met you! I couldn’t go there but I had very good time here too! I’m so glad that I’m here!
